Car Insurance Yugo (Car Insurance). What is the technical term for a car that has 4 wheel drive that you can turn on and off? What is the technical term for a car that has 4 wheel drive that you can turn on and off? my grandparents are agreeing to match my savings for a car, but only if it has 4 wheel drive (because the college im going to is up in the mountains and they want me to be safe) My budget is around 10,000 but if you know of any good cars with the variable 4 wheel drive control (or whatever its called) for that price please let me know. I prefer honda, toyota, lexus, or any japanese car. I also like the honda crv especially. P.s: I want the variable 4 wheel drive because I want to get better gas mileage when im taking the 3 hour trip home. So gas mileage is a big factor, but any alltime 4wd car with over 25mpgs is ok too. Also my budget could be as high as 12000 because I will probably be getting around 2000 when I graduate, thanks!!! subaru have a good range of cars, that will get you up there. I personally always drive toyota, i've had landcruisers, and now have a hilux, but they drink quite a bit of fuel. Automatic 4 wheel drive. Subaru outback, Audi A4 AWD. The problem with "part time 4WD" systems is that you can lose control of the car, or damage the drivetrain, if you forget to disengage the 4WD once you are on a good road with good traction. Full time 4WD, a.k.a. "all-wheel drive" systems don't have that problem. Auto parts : Cruise Control Servo Acura 1995 . Cubic Inch Tester Alfa Romeo 1996 . Cup Holder Audi 1997 . Yugo . How to Check the Automatic Transmission Fluid in a 2002 Ford FocusThe performance and longevity of your vehicle's automatic transmission can depend on checking the transmission fluid and keeping it at the correct level. A fluid level that is too low or too high can create shifting problems and may cause internal damage to the transmission. The 2002 Ford Focus has a transverse-mounted, four-cylinder engine that is mated to a four-speed automatic, overdrive transmission on some models. Fluid level should be checked frequently via the transmission dipstick tube in the engine compartment. Difficulty:Moderately Easy Instructions Things You'll Need Lint-free cloth Mercon V automatic transmission fluid (optional) Step by Step : 1 Drive the vehicle at least 20 miles to warm up the transmission fluid to operating temperature. Park on a level area and set the parking brake. Leave the engine running. 2 Press down on the brake pedal and move the transmission shift lever through each gear. Leave the shifter in each position long enough for the gear to fully engage before going to the next position. Place the shifter in park and release the brake. 3 Open the hood and locate the transmission dipstick near the front of the engine compartment, in-between the battery and engine block. 4 Pull the dipstick from the dipstick tube and wipe the end with a clean, lint-free cloth. Insert the dipstick back into the tube until it is fully seated. 5 Pull the dipstick back out of the tube and ensure the fluid level is between the minimum ("Min") and maximum ("Max") marks on the end of the dipstick. Insert the dipstick back into the tube until it is fully seated. Tips & Warnings Add fluid to the transmission if it is below the minimum mark on the dipstick. Remove the dipstick and place a funnel into the dipstick tube. Add Mercon V automatic transmission fluid -- available at Ford dealers -- in small increments. Check the fluid level with the dipstick between each increment to ensure you do not overfill the transmission. The automatic transmission fluid level may appear to be overfilledl if the level is checked after car has been operated at high speeds for long periods, used for city driving in hot weather or with prolonged, erratic braking or steering actions. Shut the engine off for 30 minutes to allow the transmission fluid cool off to correct the problem. Transmission fluid expands as it becomes warmer. Checking the fluid cold will give you an inaccurate reading. Always check the transmission warm, with the engine running and the transmission selector in "Park."
Yugo . How to Check the Transmission Fluid in a 2000 Dodge IntrepidThe Dodge Intrepid was introduced in 1993. The 2000 Dodge Intrepid was produced with four different engine options; a 2.7-liter DOHC V-6, a 2.7-liter SOHC V-6, a 3.2-liter V-6 and a 3.5-liter HO V-6 engine. The 2000 Dodge Intrepid has a forward facing engine and front-wheel drive. It has a front differential between the transmission and the drive axles. The 2000 Intrepid was only equipped with automatic transmissions, and the transmission dipstick is located in the same position on all models. Difficulty:Moderately Easy Instructions Things You'll Need Rag or paper towel Mopar ATF+3 or ATF+4 transmission fluid Transmission funnel Step by Step : 1 Park the car on a level surface. Pull the hood release latch, located on the driver's side kick panel near the door frame. Leave the vehicle engine running for testing the fluid level. Raise the hood of the Intrepid and position yourself over the driver's front fender. Locate the transmission dipstick in the driver's side rear of the engine compartment. 2 Remove the dipstick with the engine of the vehicle still running. Wipe the dipstick clean using a rag or paper towel. 3 Reinstall the dipstick into the transmission fill tube. Allow the dipstick to stay in place for a few seconds. Remove the dipstick and turn it sideways, parallel to the ground. Read the dipstick toward the lower end. The fluid should be at a level between the hash marks or "Safe" markings on the dipstick. Reinstall the dipstick. 4 Shut the engine off, and add a small amount of transmission fluid if needed. Repeat Steps 2 and 3 to recheck the level on the dipstick. Always check the dipstick with the engine running, but top off the transmission with the engine off. *In many locales, putting oil filters into a landfill is against the law, so don't just throw away the old oil filter unless you check first to be sure that you won't be breaking the law. You can call the Used Filter Recycling Hotline at 800-99-FILTER. 8. While the old oil drains out of the engine, open a new bottle of oil. 9. Dip a finger in the new oil and moisten the gasket on the top of the new oil filter. Then screw the new filter into the engine where the old one was. Chapter 15: Changing Your Oil 757

Unless the filter manufacturer specifically recommends it, or there isn't enough space to get your hand into, don't use an oil filter wrench to tighten the filter. It should fit tightly, but you don't want to crush the gasket, or the filter will leak. 10. Reach under the car again and use your dirty rag to wipe around the place where the oil drain plug goes. 11. Replace the oil drain plug and use an adjustable wrench to tighten it. If your vehicle uses an oil drain plug gasket, make sure that the old one has been removed and lay a new gasket on the pan before you replace the plug. 12. After you install the oil filter and replace the oil drain plug, use a funnel — or just good aim — to pour all but 1 quart of the fresh oil into the oil filler hole (see Figure 15-8). Yugo . Running the engine circulates oil into the new oil filter, and because filters hold from a half to a full quart of oil, you want to be sure that your filter is full to get an accurate reading on the oil dipstick. !? A 0 Part III: Keeping Your Car in Good Condition, System by System 14. Shut off the engine and wait five to ten minutes for the oil to settle into the oil pan. Then remove the oil dipstick, wipe it with a clean, lint-free rag, and shove it back in. Pull it out again and check it. Keep adding oil a little at a time and checking the stick until you reach the "Full" line on the dipstick. (Refer to Figure 3-10 in Chapter 3 to see what an oil dipstick looks like.) 15. Remove the drain pan from under the vehicle, drive around the block a couple of times, let the oil settle down again, and recheck the dipstick and the dashboard indicator. Remember, never keep running an engine or drive a vehicle that tells you its oil pressure is low. Because oil not only lubricates but also helps cool the engine, you can ruin your engine if you drive even a short distance with insufficient oil or with a defective oil pump. Use the Maintenance Record at the back of this book to record the vehicle mileage and date of the oil change. On the Specification Record at the back of this book, note the oil filter make and part number and the weight and number of quarts of oil you needed. These records not only keep track of when you need to change the oil again but also help you find the right parts quickly next time. They may even increase the price of your vehicle (if you ever decide to sell it) by giving the buyer confidence that the engine has been looked after. Although this process takes 15 steps to explain, it shouldn't take more than 15 minutes to accomplish, once you buy the necessary stuff. When you see how easy changing the oil is, you'll tend to change your oil more frequently, and your car will ride better, last longer, burn less fuel, and cause less air pollution. You'll feel pretty happy with yourself, too! Yugo . Who invented car seat?
